Inspirational Journal: Toddler Edition!

I created an inspirational journal for my 4 year old daughter, Lexi. Of course, I got the idea from the wonderful pinners at Pinterest.  On our inspirational journal, I wanted to incorporate both a question of the day and the childs art. First, I went to Target and bought a cute little writing tablet for about 5 bucks, along with some markers and paints. Every day I will write down on top of the page and ask my daughter the following question, "what two things made you happy today"? After she gives her answer, I will write it down on top of the page. Make sure you write down the date! Thereafter, I will have her draw, paint or sketch on the same page we wrote her answers. We will do this activity every day ( if the schedule permits, Lord knows us parents get busy). To make it more interesting, I have compiled a list of questions that I thought would be more thought provoking ( refer to top photo of this post) just in case the same question gets old. Since Lexi just turned 4, it should be interesting to see how some of the questions above change from now untill she turns 5. My most favorite question from the list I made was "what makes you beautiful"? I thought this question would be an excellent self-esteem booster for the child.
Our first day on the project was pretty good although, her being the hyperactive toddler that she is, she really just wanted to paint a million pages! So be sure to have extra paper around for your child to play with or else her pretty little journal may turn into a scribble masterpiece! The first question on the journal that I asked her was, "what inspires you the most"? She said, “Flowers and dogs”.Very cute. After we wrote her answers she painted her page and drew her flowers and dogs. It's a very rewarding project for parents and I hope she can look back one day when she is older and appreciate her precious keepsake. In a few days I will share my own personal sketch journal and the techniques I use.
